Valentines Day at the Dunes

So for Valentines Day my sweet sister Jenelle and friend Heidi watched our boys so we could have an adventurous couple of days. It was lots of fun and extremely freaky. Obviously we are well aware that having a little fun on a quad can turn into months of pain and hospital bills. However we played it safe and no one got hurt. It's so different riding around in these huge piles and bowls of sand than it is to drive around in the desert. The sand is plays all sorts of tricks on the eyes. It looks safer and scarier that it really is! You would go up a very gradual hill only to meet a cliff on the other side. You just never knew what to expect. I rode the little 350 around while the other 3 had a 400 and 500's, I felt like my little guy couldn't handle lots of the stuff theirs could. Of course Brent would prove me wrong over and over again making it over ANY and EVERTHING and then gave it back for me to do. Did I mention the weather was PERFECT? It was overcast and just beautiful! Such a differnt landscape I tell ya.

Heres Brent in a jump. (I did that one too and must have done it not as good cause I FLEW and landed nice and hard...of course there is no picture to prove it:) )

Our little group with a couple of extras (minus Michelle who is taking the picture)

Isn't that beautiful!?...sorry ladies he's taken ;)

Off for a little night ride...BYE!!

Horseback Riding

A friend I work out with invited us to a play day with her horses. We invited Camille, Brayden and Logan to come out with us. I expected us to go and her take them in little circles, which would have been great don't get me wrong, but this was so much more fun!! She showed us mom's how to lead the horse around with a child on the her kid saddle and then Saddled up another so that we could ride them ourselves. We all had a blast. It's been a while since Camille and I have been on a horse so it made us a little giddy getting to ride them, especially when we got them going a little faster. Porter really liked being so high riding that tall horse. Mason LOVED it! First I took him and porter and then I hopped on with Mason. After a little while I thought we were done, Mason let me know otherwise...he did not have plans to get off the horse any time soon. I didn't think he would be the one that loved it so much!! She made a little "jail" for the boys not riding with all sorts of fun toys and they were loving that too.

"Faster girl!"

All by himself (well I was spotting him and leading the horse)...what a big boy!!

Mason LOVED riding the horse!! He did NOT want to get off!!
After riding horses they got to play in the COOL backyard!!

More medical Mysteries

I think maybe my kids have a medical mystery gene of some sort ;). They both came down with something really odd that wasn't passed on (that I'm aware of) or spread to them by anyone I'm aware of. First they got a fever, then white lesions all over their mouth (kindof like tons of white cold sores) preventing them to be able to really eat much. It was weird how the first couple bits were excruciating and then if I could convince them to eat more it wasn't as bad. Almost like they were right on their salivary glands but once the gland was open it wasn't as bad. Then came the rash first on the bottom and anywhere the diaper was and then on the arms. We don't currently have insurance so we didn't take them in. Plus the routine with us is usually poking and prodding, drawing blood with no conclusion. Oh well it went away in a few days anyway. I'm glad they are eating and feeling better!!! :)

Cousin time

February was the month of playing with cousins. One week Drayton and Peyson came to play Monday-Wednesday, then the following week we went over to Brayden and Logan's house Thursday-Saturday. Needless to say I did not get a lot of stuff done, but since I didn't plan on it and had set that time aside to have fun with the kids we had a BLAST!! Since I didn't have a car that would fit all four kids with car seats we stayed home and played out side on the our new swing set and played games and made cookies and valentines heart cards for mommy and daddy. All four were sick for part of it but it wasn't too bad at all. Over at the Stevens they had a community park very close so we went there a few times, rode bikes and played the Wii. The kids all had a great time and the best part is they all slept like angels. Thank goodness for good sleepers. I am relieved and quite impressed that I didn't lose it once!! The kids just played so well together I didn't have to. Thanks for playing with us cousins...COME AGAIN!!!

Mason and Peyson sharing a bean bag

Here they all are watching Word World while I clean the house and cook dinner. What good kids!!!

Attached!!

Have I mentioned how much my boys are ATTACHED? Not just to me, Porter to his cars and Mason to his Blankly. Porter always has 2-6 cars in his hand at all times. He goes to bed with handfuls of them and then drives them till he falls asleep. Whatever makes him feel happy and secure.
It seems as of late Mason has also built an attachment to something; his blankly!! He loves carrying it around and cuddling with it! It's quite adorable. I didn't realize HOW attached he was till Kristen, my sister-in-law, watched him one night and reported that when she put him to bed he was crying and crying. She had just put his blankly in the dryer since Mason had dragged it into the dog water. So thinking maybe that was why he was crying she pulled it out of the dryer and gave it to him and he went right to sleep. I had just never put him to bed with out it so I didn't realize the scene he would make with out it.

Curtis Family Pix

So I don't know why I never showed off these great pictures done by my cousin Stephanie, so here they are. This is my family in November. No one was pregnant and everyone still lives here so we are in the picture. It really worked out well!! There's the original Mom, Dad, 7 girls and 3 boys and then we have one wonderful daughter-in-law and 2 son-in-laws. There are now 6 grand kids; 5boys and the youngest is a sweet girl. Additions are always so fun and exciting. The dynamics of the family is constantly changing and we learn a lot from each other. I love you all!!!

This one is my favorite of all of us.
